Romance Is in the Air at Wentworth Mansion, Circa 1886

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Nothing says “Be Mine” like a five-course dinner at one of Charleston’s most romantic restaurants or a stay at the historic Wentworth Mansion®, a popular spot for engagements, weddings and honeymoons. Throughout February, the historic restaurant and hotel is giving a nod to sweethearts with special dinners and packages.

AAA Four Diamond, Forbes Four Star Circa 1886 will offer two seatings on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 6 and 9 p.m. with a special Valentine’s Day dinner. The menu features seared sea scallops and shrimp for a first course; chilled organic chicken breast for the second course; and truffle goat cheese panna cotta croustade for the third course. For the entrée, guests can choose from sous vide of beef shoulder loin with garlic shoot potato puree and rosemary-glazed baby squash; seared snapper with Brussels sprouts and baby blue potatoes; or Berkshire pork tontoro with foie gras sun-dried cherry cornbread stuffing and root vegetables. Midnight chocolate indulgence, a dessert created by pastry chef Scott Lovorn, will conclude the evening.

The romantic AAA Five Diamond Wentworth Mansion® hotel is celebrating romance all month with a special Sweetheart Package for two available Feb. 1-28. The package includes a one-night stay at the mansion, a dozen red roses delivered to your room, a candlelight turndown and three-course dinner for two at Circa 1886. The cost is $495, which includes tax and gratuity for dinner, but excludes beverages and room tax. A minimum night stay may apply.

On Valentine’s Day weekend, Feb. 13-15, the same package is available for $1,075 (including tax and gratuity at dinner but excluding beverages and room tax) and requires a two-night minimum stay. It also includes dinner for two at Circa 1886 on Valentine's Day.

Also available throughout the month of February is the Date “Over” Night package, a package for locals that was popular last fall and is back for 2010. Residents of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties can take advantage of this special package at the Wentworth Mansion®, which includes a one-night stay in a mansion room with a candlelight turndown and dinner for two at Circa 1886. The cost of the package is $299. Dinner is not available on Sundays, as the restaurant is closed, and the package is not available Feb. 12-15 due to Valentine’s Day specials.
