Oh my goodness- we came to Charleston to get married and chose Wentworth Mansion not only as our hotel accommodation, but also as the location of our ceremony.  We couldn't be happier!!!  We were expecting at least a few increased amenities with the price of our stay, but we certainly didn't expect an amazing breakfast each morning, a refrigerator stocked with complimentary sodas and water, consistently wonderful wine and hors d'oeuvre each afternoon, or the fabulous chocolates we received at turn-down each night! CIRCA 1886 restaurant was quite beautiful and so nicely situated on the property (unobtrusive) as it was the former carriage house. This is the first room I have stayed in that offered free bottle water and other soft drinks. That was a huge selling point. I also was blown over by the free port and sherry available. I have stayed at 5 star hotels around the world and usually you get sticker shock where you are charged $5 for a bottle of water, etc. No way would they offer free alcohol! These little touches made this one of my most memorable hotels.

For what it is worth, we are local, and we did a "staycation" in Charleston for our 10th wedding anniversary.  We also stayed at the Market Pavilion Hotel one night also, and I thought the Wentworth mansion was all around the better deal.  I liked the old style Inn versus the mass luxury hotel.  The Tiffany stained glass put me over the edge though.  What a treasure.

“The Perfect Romantic Getaway”

My husband and I stayed her for a weekend getaway and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The room was cozy and gorgeous, including a large jacuzzi tub (husband loooved that) and an awesome fireplace. We had massages at the spa and were in absolute heaven. Along with courtesy breakfast at the Circa 1886 restaurant with full service and awesome food. The mansion is in a neighborhood district so its calm and quiet, yet only a 3-5 minute walk to King Street and all the downtown action. Overall, it was an amazing weekend and we can't wait to come back!

Our first impression of the hotel was that we were being invited to stay with friends in a private residence. Beverly did a great job of making me feel like I was the only guest in the hotel and made time to answer all my questions. We had our children with us and the room was a challenge for housekeeping I am sure, but they were very accomodating.  The value for the price paid was incredible. "The most AMAZING Place"

I have traveled to Charleston many times and have stayed at a lot of the fine hotels. On this trip I tried someplace I had never stayed because this trip was for my anniversary - so it had a lot to live up to... and boy did it. From the moment we checked in to the final minutes there I can't rave enough about Wentworth and the staff.  

The Food... Breakfast was not to be believed - incredible (Kyle was great - gave us lots of ideas of things to do) so was Miss Bessy. (They all were really). We had dinner at Circa and it was very good. Happy hour food was incredible not just wine and cheese.

The Staff... I can't praise them enough. 5 star. On our anniversary night we came back to our room to find a very special surprise - chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, candles around the room, the fireplace on and a very sweet anniversary card.  Did I mentioned we asked for none of this! There was not one weak link - incredible staff.  The best part to me is - they were there when we needed them and not when we wanted our space.

Over all - there is no place better in Charleston. Couldn't be happier - I will be back as soon as I can!

Wow! We are spoiled. The peanuts, soda, and water was a nice touch, as was the coffee, wine and appetizers, and after dinner drinks.  The full breakfast was amazing. Didn't want to go home.

Came down after 3 days in NY and this place was fabulous. Couldn't find a thing wrong. Hotel is charming beyond words, the staff were warm and friendly without being overbearing. This is the sort of hotel you'd come to regardless where it was, just to stay. We were sorry to leave. Oh, and Charleston is great fun. If you come here, stay at this hotel, you will love it!

“Perfection in Charleston”

From the moment we arrived until we left four days later it felt as if we were at home. The staff was very friendly and helpful with out being obtrusive. We had room 17....an amazing space with a fireplace, lovely views, well appointed bathroom....just perfect. We can not say enough about Circa 1886. We had the best dinner there of any restaurant (all high end) in Charleston. The chef is very innovative and he could make fried catfish any day of the week for me!  We also liked the quiet of the neighborhood, again it gave us a feeling of being at home and not amid the bustle of a city, which was just a few short blocks away. We can not wait to return and would highly recommend the Wentworth Mansion to anyone visiting Charleston....a true value for all that one receives.

Everything was handled with grace! 

Once we checked in, the entire staff behaved as if they knew us. The room was beautiful and spacious.  The bed and bath were both very luxurious.  Dinner was exquisite.  This was truly one of the very best meals that I have ever had.  The food was unique and very flavorful.  Hopefully all your guests enjoy at least one dinner in Circa 1886. It was a joy to come back after dinner to a clean room, a box of chocolates, a rose, and music softly playing.  At first, I thought the published rates were pricey, but the value of what you get is extraordinary.  I have already described the atmosphere and services to a number of people.  I will be back!

Considered staying at other hotels in Charleston before settling on Wentworth - Charleston Place, Planters Inn, Vendue Inn, Market Pavilion, and French Quarter Inn.  All were comparably priced, but the fact that our rate came with breakfast at Circa and free parking 4 blocks away from King Street really made it worthwhile.
